Surrogacy

Surrogacy is a compassionate reproductive option where a woman carries a baby for another individual or couple, offering a pathway to parenthood.

What is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a fertility treatment where an embryo created via IVF is implanted into the uterus of a surrogate who carries the pregnancy to term. This process is ideal for those unable to carry a pregnancy due to medical or anatomical reasons.

Types of Surrogacy

  • Gestational Surrogacy: The surrogate has no genetic link to the baby. Embryos are created from the intended parents’ or donors' eggs and sperm.
  • Traditional Surrogacy (not practiced in India): The surrogate's egg is used, making her the biological mother.

Who Can Benefit from Surrogacy?

  • Women with absent or non-functional uterus
  • Women with medical conditions that make pregnancy risky
  • Repeated IVF failures or miscarriages
  • Same-sex male couples or single male parents
